<p>Havøysund, which is a fishing village, is the administrative center of Måsøy municipality. In addition to municipal services, there are postal services, various shops, a pharmacy, a bank, a hotel, a guesthouse, a café, a cinema, a clinic, a nursing home, and a central school. The police, district doctor/dentist, harbor assistant, and parish priest reside here.</p>
<p>The economy in Havøysund is mainly based on the fishing industry, and there are therefore several fish processing facilities, as well as a freezing plant, shrimp factory, and fillet factory in the area.<br />Havøysund is served by local route boats and cargo ships of various kinds.<br />Both north- and southbound coastal express ships call daily.</p>

<p>Havøysund, som er et fiskevær, er administrasjonssenter for Måsøy kommune. Foruten de kommunale tjenester er det post, forretninger av forskjellig slag, medisinutsalg, bank, hotell, gjestgiveri, kafé, kino, sykestue, pleiehjem og sentralskole. Lensmann, distriktslege/-tannlege, havneassistent og sogneprest er bosatt her.</p>
<p>Næringslivet i Havøysund baserer seg vesentlig på fiskeindustri, og det er således flere fiskemottak, samt fryseri, rekefabrikk og filet abrikk på stedet.<br />Havøysund anløpes av lokalrutebåter og lastebåter av forskjellig slag.<br />Både N- og S-gående hurtigrute anløper daglig.</p>

<p>It is forbidden to anchor or moor within the area on the W side of a straight line drawn from Hallvikneset in a southern direction across the strait to Eiterfjordholmen, and E of a straight line drawn from a point 25 m W of the western corner of the Old Route Boat Dock across the strait to Dampskipssteinen.<br />Furthermore, it is forbidden to anchor or have fixed mooring along the southern shore of the strait.<br />Small vessels can anchor in the middle zone of the inner harbor and in the small boat harbor. <br />Larger vessels can anchor in Eiterfjorden and beyond, but not in such a way that navigation into the harbor is obstructed. NB! Watch out for underwater cables crossing Havøysundet!</p>

<p>Det er forbudt å ankre eller fortøye innen området som ligger på W-siden av en rett linje trukket fra Hallvikneset i retning S-over sundet til Eiterfjordholmen og E for en rett linje trukket fra et punkt 25 m W for Gamle Rutebåtkaias vestre hjørne og over sundet til Dampskipssteinen.<br />Videre er det forbudt å ankre eller ha fast fortøyning langs sundets søndre bredd.<br />Mindre fartøyer kan ankre i midtsonen i indre havn og i sjarkhavnen. <br />Større fartøyer kan ankre på Eiterfjorden og utover, dog ikke slik at innseilingen til havnen blir hindret. NB! Se opp for sjøkabler som krysser Havøysundet!</p>
