<p>Høydalsfjorden cuts in southeastwards from Solheimsfjorden. In the middle of the open fjord, there are several low, forested islets. Around the fjord, the landscape is somewhat higher with hills and mountains. At the innermost part of the fjord, at Osstrupen, the mountains are particularly steep. Apart from the area around Holmesundet, there is little habitation around Høydalsfjorden.</p>

<p>Høydalsfjorden skjærer seg inn SE‑over fra Solheimsfjorden. Midt i den åpne fjorden ligger det flere lave, skogkledde holmer. Rundt fjorden er landskapet noe høyere med åser og fjell. Innerst i fjorden ved Osstrupen er fjellene særlig bratte. Bortsett fra strøket omkring Holmesundet, er det lite bebyggelse rundt Høydalsfjorden.</p>
