<p>East of Måløy, Nordfjord stretches approximately 50 nautical miles into the country. The fjord is clean and deep, and the most important shoals are marked.</p><p>The waters inward the fjord often change names: Davikfjorden, Isefjorden, Hundvikfjorden, Utfjorden, Innvikfjorden, and Faleidsfjorden.</p><p>The landscape around the fjord is high and forested with considerable dense settlement around the central areas. Due to its beautiful nature, the fjord is often visited by tourist ships during the summer months.</p><p>Along the N-side of the fjord runs national road 15 with daily bus service between the larger towns from Måløy to Stryn. Along the S-side, there is a road from Rugsundstraumen/Davik to Svelgen.</p><p>The tidal currents in the fjord are weak and the current depends on the wind and freshwater inflow. Tidal differences increase a bit inward the fjord, but even at the innermost part, they are only a few centimeters larger than at Måløy. Refer to the general description of the current in the fjord in General Information for more details.</p><p>It happens that the inner part of the fjord freezes in the winter months, but rarely further out than Utvik.</p>

<p>Øst for Måløy strekker Nordfjord seg ca 50 n mil inn i landet. Fjorden er ren og dyp, og de viktigste grunnene er oppmerket.</p><p>Farvannet innover fjorden skifter ofte navn: Davikfjorden, Isefjorden, Hundvikfjorden, Utfjorden, Innvikfjorden og Faleidsfjorden.</p><p>Landskapet rundt fjorden er høyt og skogkledd med atskillig tettbebyggelse rundt de sentrale stedene. Fjorden er på grunn av sin vakre natur, ofte besøkt av turistskip i sommerhalvåret.</p><p>Langs N‑siden av fjorden går riksvei 15 med daglig rutebiltrafikk mellom de større stedene fra Måløy til Stryn. Langs S‑siden er det vei fra Rugsundstraumen/Davik til Svelgen.</p><p>Tidevannsstrømmene i fjorden er svake og strømmen er avhengig av vind og ferskvannstilførsel. Tidevannsforskjellene øker litt innover i fjorden, men selv innerst er de bare noen få cm større enn i Måløy.
