It flows northward with rising water and southward with falling water. At its strongest, the current reaches several knots and many whirlpools form, which can be problematic for smaller vessels. Prominent eddies are found near the shores. When the wind and tide move in opposite directions, a rough tidal sea can occur, creating strong whirlpools that can almost instantly change a vessel's course by up to 10-15 degrees.</p>

Den går N-over med stigende og S-over med fallende vann. På det sterkeste går strømmen flere knop og mange hvirvler oppstår til sjenanse for mindre fartøyer. Markerte bakevjer under land. Det blir krapp strømsjø når vind og tidevann går motsatt vei, dette kan skape sterke strømvirvler som nærmest momentant kan endre fartøyets kurs opptil 10-15 grader.</p>
