<p><a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip </a>is the collective name for the group of islets and skerries surrounding the island of <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a>, located about 8 nautical miles NNW of <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="<a href=" data-type="By">Kristiansund</a>, where the former fishing village of <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip </a>is situated.<br><a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip </a>is no longer inhabited, but has become a very popular tourist destination. During the summer, there are shops and a café. In the middle of the cluster of houses stands a small church, with its tower visible above the rooftops.<br>At its peak, <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> had around 400 inhabitants. <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip </a>was its own municipality until 1964, when it was merged with <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="<a href=" data-type="By">Kristiansund</a>.</p>
<p>All the islets in <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> are small and low, offering little protection from the sea and wind, and are not visible from a distance. On the northernmost of the islets, <a href="ssr:740669" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.23385" data-lng="7.60996" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Skjær i sjø">Bratthårskollen</a>, stands <a href="ssr:255692" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.23387" data-lng="7.60914" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Fyrstasjon">Grip fyr</a> (Lighthouse), a 44-meter-high red iron tower with a white stone base. The lighthouse also functions as a radio beacon.</p>

Midt i husklyngen står en liten kirke, og tårnet er synlig over hustakene.<br>På det meste hadde <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> ca 400 innbyggere. <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> var egen kommune frem til 1964, da ble <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> slått sammen med <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="<a href=" data-type="By">Kristiansund</a>. </p>
<p>Samtlige holmer i <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> er små og lave og gir liten beskyttelse mot sjø og vind, og er ikke synlig på noen avstand. På den N-ligste av holmene, <a href="ssr:740669" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.23385" data-lng="7.60996" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Skjær i sjø">Bratthårskollen</a>, står <a href="ssr:255692" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.23387" data-lng="7.60914" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Fyrstasjon">Grip fyr</a>, 44 m høyt, rødt jerntårn med hvit steinsokkel. Fyret er også radiofyr.</p>

<p><a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a> has two harbors protected by breakwaters: <a href="ssr:1078023" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.21976" data-lng="7.5911" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Våg i sjø">Yttervågen</a>, on the northwest side of the island, and <a href="ssr:1078024" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.21813" data-lng="7.59397" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Våg i sjø">Innervågen</a>, on the south side. In <a href="ssr:1078023" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.21976" data-lng="7.5911" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Våg i sjø">Yttervågen</a>, there are floating docks and moorings for small boats. In <a href="ssr:1078024" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.21813" data-lng="7.59397" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Våg i sjø">Innervågen</a>, there is a concrete quay with two berthing sides: the north side, 20 meters long, and the west side, 48 meters long. There are mooring bolts on the inside of the breakwater.</p>
<p>Smaller vessels can, in calm weather, anchor outside the breakwater on the southeast side of <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a>. The depth is 15–17 meters with a sandy bottom, but the anchorage is exposed to heavy swells in northerly and northwesterly weather. Mooring bolts are available on the small skerry southwest of the anchorage.</p>

<p>Mindre fartøyer kan i maksvær ankre opp utenfor moloen på SE-siden av <a href="ssr:12672" data-county="Møre og Romsdal" data-lat="63.2195" data-lng="7.59301" data-municipality="Kristiansund" data-type="Øy i sjø">Grip</a>, dybde 15–17 m, sandbunn, men ankerplassen er utsatt for voldsomt sjødrag i N- og NW-lig vær. Fortøyningsbolter i det lille skjæret SW for ankerplassen.</p>
