<p>Mandal is located in Norway's southernmost municipality and in the Vest-Agder county. It borders Lindesnes to the west and northwest, Marnardal to the north, and Søgne to the east. Mandal is the second largest town in Vest-Agder.</p>
<p>The town is situated at the mouth of the Mandalselva river, where the 800-meter-long light bathing beach Sjøsanden is located. The town's cultural center, Buen, is located on the riverbank in the heart of Mandal.<br />

<h3>Sailing Information</h3>
<p>Vessels bound for Mandal usually take a pilot at Oksøy (Kristiansand) or at Katland (Farsund).</p>
<p>There is no significant current in the outer harbor; in the river it can reach up to several knots. The traffic in the harbor is rarely disturbed by ice.</p>
<p>Pedestrian and bicycle bridge, Adolph Tidemand's bridge, from Bryggegata to Buen Cultural Center, clearance height 4 m. Drawbridge with width 10 m opens upon request to Mandal Harbour KF.</p>

<p>Det er ikke nevneverdig strøm i ytre havn; i elven kan den gå med opp til flere knops fart. Trafikken i havna sjeneres sjelden av is.</p>
