<p>Måløy is the municipal center in Vågsøy municipality. The town is particularly known as a haven for the fishing fleet. However, significant industrial activity has gradually taken a substantial place in the local economy. Speedboat terminal. <p>Under the bridge over Måløystraumen, there are two sailing lanes; western and eastern.</p>
<p>The western main lane has a free sailing height of 41 m, depth of 10.5 m, and width of 75 m.</p>
<p>The eastern lane has a free sailing height of 42 m, depth of 12.0 m, and width of 75 m. It is emphasized that the maximum sailing height applies at the bridge lights; the middle of the lane.</p>
<h3>Ship Traffic</h3>
<p>Speed regulations in Måløystraumen/Ulvesundet:</p>
<p>Engine-driven vessels must not sail at a speed greater than what good seamanship and the vessel's maneuverability suggest within the Måløy port district. Under no circumstances should the speed be so high that it creates waves that can cause harm or danger to other vessels or harbor facilities.</p>
<h3>Current and Tide Conditions</h3>
<p>The current conditions in Måløystraumen require navigating with caution, and large vessels are therefore advised to navigate offshore.</p>
<p>In Måløystraumen and Ulvesundet, the current usually sets north both during high and low tide, strongest about 1 hour before high tide. In southerly weather and during major spring tides, it is said to be able to set with up to 3 knots.</p>

<p>Det vestre, hovedløpet, har fri seilingshøyde 41 m, dybde 10,5 m og bredde 75 m. </p>
<p>Det østre har fri seilingshøyde 42 m, dybde 12,0 m og bredde 75 m. Det understrekes at maksimum seilingshøyde gjelder ved brulysene; midten av løpet.</p>
<h3>Skipstrafikk</h3>
<p>Fartsbestemmelser i Måløystraumen/Ulvesundet:</p>
<p>Maskindrevne fartøyer skal i Måløy havnedistrikt ikke gå med større fart enn god sjømannsskikk og fartøyets manøvrering tilsier. Ikke under noen omstendigheter må farten være så stor at det oppstår sjø som kan gi skade eller fare for andre fartøyer eller anleggene i havnen.</p>
<h3>Strøm og tidevannsforhold</h3>
<p>Strømforholdene i Måløystraumen gjør at man må navigere med forsiktighet, og store fartøyer tilrådes derfor å gå utenskjærs.</p>
<p>I Måløystraumen og Ulvesundet setter strømmen som regel N-over både ved flo og fjære, sterkest ca 1 time før flo. I S-lig vær og ved stor spring sies den å kunne sette med opp til 3 knops fart.</p>

<p>The following regulations must be followed when anchoring:<br />It is prohibited to anchor west of a straight line between <a data-county="Vestland" data-lat="61.92781" data-lng="5.12164" data-municipality="Kinn" data-type="Sund i sjø" href="ssr:397651">Måløystraumen</a>'s northernmost green light and <a data-county="Vestland" data-lat="61.94312" data-lng="5.13732" data-municipality="Kinn" data-type="Grunne i sjø" href="ssr:295706">Trollebøfluda</a> light, and east of a straight line that shows between the Northern Måløy light and Goteberghammaren’s eastern point. This area should be kept open for coastal through traffic.</p>
<p>From the Inter-Com Terminal and southward to 61°56.08 N 05°06.90 E, there should be an open lane of about 75–100 m along the quays. The anchor must be set at a sufficient distance from the specified sailing lines and the area near the quays, so that the vessels under all wind and current conditions sway clear of the lines. Anchoring with mooring anchors and wire is prohibited. Only bow anchors and chains should be used. During large and spring herring fishing, purse seiners are required to lower their dories if the harbor supervision demands it.</p>
