<p>Bergen is often called the capital of Western Norway or the city between the seven mountains and holds a very prominent place in transportation, trade, industry, and shipping. <p>Bergen kalles ofte Vestlandets hovedstad eller byen mellom de syv fjell og har en meget framtredende plass innen samferdsel, handel, industri og skipsfart, i tillegg satses det nå for fullt på oljevirksomheten i Nordsjøen. Bergen har direkte ruter på de fleste europeiske havner av betydning, også på Nord- og Sør-Amerika og Afrika. Betydelig gods- og passasjertrafikk går fra Bergen til hele norskekysten. Byens landverts forbindelser er gode med jernbane Bergen–Oslo samt godt veisamband. Samtidig er byens tilknytning til såvel innenlandske som utenlandske luftruter meget god.</p>

<h3>Gjestehavn</h3>

<h3>Restriksjoner</h3>
<p>Fartøyer som ikke er rutegående med fast los om bord, og som er av minst 70 brt drektighet, skal etter havneoppsynets forlangende benytte havnelos. Dette gjelder når fartøyet skal legge til offentlig kai innen havneområdet, fortøye eller ankre opp i Vågen, Sandviken eller i Damsgårdssundet eller passere strømløpet inn til eller ut fra Store Lungegårdsvannet .</p>
