<p>The town of Flekkefjord, the westernmost of the Sørland towns, is well sheltered at the innermost part of the fjord. The town is the administrative center for Flekkefjord Municipality. There are several industrial enterprises in the town; ship and boatbuilding, boiler factories, tanneries, and factories for leather goods, felt, barrels, etc. Some fish products, lobsters, and barrels are exported. Imports include raw hides, skins, tanning materials, iron bands, iron, and machinery. The town has a bus connection with the Sørlandsbanen to Sira station, and is also served by the coastal cargo route Oslo-Bergen. The tourist information is located by the park. Flekkefjord has a county hospital.</p>
<p>The harbor, which is sheltered and safe in all weather conditions and otherwise has an easy approach, is frequently used as a storm shelter by both Norwegian and foreign fishermen. Guest jetty with electricity and water.</p>

<p>With N- and E-lig wind, the current usually flows out of the fjord, and the water level is low. With S- and W-lig wind, as well as during storms from the NW, the current flows into the fjord, and the water level is high.</p>

<p>Flekkefjord by, den vestligste av sørlandsbyene, ligger godt skjermet innerst i fjorden. Byen er kommunesenter for Flekkefjord kommune. Det finnes flere industrielle foretak i byen; skips- og båtbygging, kjelefabrikker, garverivirksomhet og fabrikker for lærvarer, filt, tønner mm. Det utføres litt fiskevarer, hummer og tønner. Av innførsel kan nevnes rå huder, skinn, garvestoffer, jernbånd, jern og maskiner. Byen har bussforbindelse med Sørlandsbanen til Sira stasjon, og anløpes dessuten av kystgodsruten Oslo-Bergen. Turistinformasjonen ligger ved parken. Flekkefjord har fylkessykehus. </p>
<p>Havna, som er lun og sikker under alle værforhold og ellers har en grei innseiling, er meget benyttet av så vel norske som utenlandske fiskere som uværshavn. Gjestebrygger med strøm og vann.</p>
<p>Fartøyer som ønsker bistand av havnelos skal henvende seg til havnekontoret. </p>
<h3>Restriksjoner</h3>
<p>Fartøyer over 100 br reg tonn som skal passere brua, skal ta havnelos; ellers er det ikke havnelosplikt.</p>
<h3>Strøm og tidevannsforhold</h3>
<p>Med N- og E-lig vind går strømmen som regel ut fjorden, og vannstanden er lav. Med S- og W-lig vind samt under storm fra NW, går strømmen derimot inn fjorden, og vannstanden er høy.</p>
