With S- and W-ly winds and seas, a choppy and dangerous sea forms at the entrance. On the N side, right after the entrance to \u00c5na-Sira, there is a warning mast with 3 vertical red lights on the mast. The lights signal the opening of turbines at the power plant, which in turn affects the current in the strait:
\n1 light on, one turbine open, low current in the strait.
\n2 lights on, two turbines open, indicating a current of about 3-4 knots in the strait.
\n3 lights on, two turbines plus sluice open, indicating a current of about 5-6 knots in the strait.

In \u00c5na-Sira, motor-driven vessels on the stretch from the breakwater at the entrance to the \u00c5na-Sira bridge must not travel faster than necessary for navigation.
\nThe speed must not exceed 5 knots. Violation of the regulation is punishable by fines and entails liability for possible damage.
