        "description_en":"<p>The coastal stretch between&nbsp;<mark><a href=\"ssr:465995\">Bellsund</a></mark>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<mark><a href=\"ssr:708998\">Isfjorden</a></mark>is characterised by a wide, low coastal plain with a mountain chain behind it. The waters along the Nordenski&ouml;ld coast are shallow and filled with many skerries and underwater rocks. The danger line (20 m) is approximately parallel to the mountain chains on the land, so that it runs only at about 0.5 NM offshore at L&aring;ngneset in the south and 5.5 NM off in the north, where it also includes the wide shoal of R&oslash;vigflaket. The depths on the shoal vary, with many dangerous underwater rocks. Special attention should be paid to Ivergrunnen (2.7 m) in the southern part of the shoal, Tessemgrunnen (6.7 m), and the 5 m underwater rock north of Tessemgrunnen, all located far west on the shoal. Mariners should skeep well clear of these when navigating between<mark><a href=\"ssr:465995\">Bellsund&nbsp;</a></mark>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<mark><a href=\"ssr:708998\">Isfjorden</a></mark>.</p>\n<p>Vessels run clear north of R&oslash;vigflaket with&nbsp;<em>Isfjord light in line with Starostinaksla</em>(the northern spur of Vardeborg).</p>\n<p>Southwest of R&oslash;vigflaket, between 8-16 NM off the shore, there is the noted Sentinelleflaket (Vaktpostflaket) with depths of 30-50 m. In bad visibility the use of echo sounders provides a good position marker for further navigation into&nbsp;<a href=\"ssr:708998\" data-county=\"Svalbard\" data-lat=\"78.25487\" data-lng=\"14.67334\" data-municipality=\"Svalbard\" data-type=\"Fjord\">Isfjorden</a> when approaching from south. The flat shoals up slowly from the south but falls more steeply off on the north side towards Isfjordrenna.</p>",

Ved bruk av ekkoloddet i usiktbart v&aelig;r gir flaket en god posisjonsangivelse for videre seilas inn til&nbsp;<mark><a href=\"ssr:708998\">Isfjorden&nbsp;</a></mark>n&aring;r man kommer fra S.         "caution_en":"<h3>Radar Navigation</h3>\n<p>When using radar as an aid for coastal navigation, it is important to note that at greater distances from the shore, mountains will appear on the radar before the edges of the wide lowland plains west of them are apparent.</p>\n<h3>Ice and Current Conditions</h3>\n<p>Along the western coast of <mark>Spitsbergen</mark>, one can expect a northward current of 1-2 knots. This current will also carry ice into the fjords, particularly on the southern side and out again on the northern side (Coriolis effect), where it will spread more under calm wind conditions. In such weather, one can expect loose ice with larger open channels on the northern side than on the southern side of the fjords. The current out from&nbsp;<mark>Isfjorden</mark> will, when there are not too many ice masses, tend to stop the northward ice drift at Sentinelleflaket. In all cases, conditions should be carefully assessed before entering the ice, as currents and especially wind can quickly change the situation to denser ice and compression of the channels.</p>\n<h3>Survey data</h3>\n<p>Surveys are incomplete in the area. Soundings within unsurveyed areas and those compiled from incomplete older surveys are unreliable and do not fully exclude undiscovered shoals. Navigation within these waters &nbsp;should be avoided whenever possible. Attention should be paid to the Source Diagram.</p>\n<h3>Shallow areas near shoreline</h3>\n<p>Close to the shore, there can be unsurveyed areas or areas of poor data quality. Due to the chart's scale such areas are not always visible on nautical Charts. Navigation in these waters must be exercised with extreme caution.</p>\n<h3>Front of glaciers</h3>\n<p>Limits of glaciers are subject to frequent change. In front of glaciers going into the sea, there are major &nbsp;variations from year to year, and depths are uncertain. Such areas must be considered as unsurveyed. Such &nbsp;conditions must be taken into account when navigating in these waters and caution exercised.</p>",

Man b&oslash;r i alle tilfeller vurdere forholdene n&oslash;ye f&oslash;r man g&aring;r inn i isen, da str&oslash;m og i s&aelig;rdeleshet vind raskt kan forandre situasjonen til tettere is med sammenpressing av r&aring;ker.</p>\n<h3>Sj&oslash;m&aring;lingsdata</h3>\n<p>Omr&aring;det er ikke fullstendig oppm&aring;lt. Dybder innenfor ikke sj&oslash;m&aring;lte omr&aring;der og omr&aring;der basert p&aring; eldre, ufullstendige m&aring;linger er up&aring;litelige, og utelukker ikke muligheten for uoppdagede grunner. Foran breer som munner ut i sj&oslash;en forekommer store variasjoner fra &aring;r til &aring;r, og dybdeforholdene er usikre. Slike omr&aring;der m&aring; betraktes som ikke sj&oslash;m&aring;lte. Disse forholdene m&aring; tas i betraktning ved navigasjon, og forsiktighet m&aring; utvises.</p>"
