Gjerdavika (63°17.3’N 08°23.4’E) extends eastward from Trondheimsleia, situated between Grisvågøya and Skardsøya to the north, and Ertvågsøya and the mainland to the south.

The current flows eastward with the rising tide and westward with the falling tide. Near Styrsøya, the current can be quite strong. The settlement around Gjerdavika is rather sparse. There are several good harbors and anchorages around the bay.

Gjerdavika skjærer seg inn E-over fra Trondheimsleia mellom Grisvågøya og Skardsøya på på N-siden og Ertvågsøya og fastlandet på S-siden.

Strømmen går E-over med stigende og W-over med fallende vann. Ved Styrsøya kan den løpe temmelig sterk. Bebyggelsen rundt Gjerdavika er nokså spredt. Det er flere gode havner og ankerplasser rundt vika.
