From Lepsøyrevet northward to Budadjupet, the fairway is very spacious and generally clear if one does not go too close to shore. The widest part – past Fjørtofta and Harøya – is called Harøyfjorden. The northernmost part – between Saltsteinen and Galderskjæra on the north side and Bjørnsund on the south side – is called Saltsteinsleia. Here, the current usually sets northeastward, strongest with rising water.
