Entering Giskesundet, you navigate through Breisunddjupet with the southern point of Havsteinen to Alnestangen. The aforementioned course leads south of Dyngeskallen and further north of Olsfluda. You are clear north of Vallab\u00e5ane, with the Alnes lighthouse north of the highest Havsteinen. Keep a good distance from Alnestangen, which is quite shallow. In Giskesundet, there can be sudden gusts of wind from God\u00f8ya during strong west and south winds. From Giskesundet, navigate north or south of Havsteinen into the inner channel. You can also navigate clear north of Stadsgrunnskallen, with the southern edge of Aksla well north of Furkenholmen and further south of Leiafallet. You are clear south of Onglegrynnet, 17 m, with the edge of Aksla south of the highest Havsteinen, and clear southwest of the Fauskane light buoy and sound buoy and Onglegrynnet with the southwest point of God\u00f8ya on the western edge of Sula.
\nIf you want to enter the inner channel through one of the passages between God\u00f8ya and Vigra, you can go into Litledjupet. You are clear northeast of Fauskane with Storholmen lighthouse in alignment with the eastern edge of Goaldet (490) (Leps\u00f8ya) and clear west of Storholmen with Erkna lighthouse aligned with Valkv\u00e6 (northeast point of God\u00f8ya). You are clear north of Grunnskallen with the northern edge of Aksla north of the whole of high Erkna and clear south of them with Erkna lighthouse between Skipbyggjaren and Toskjera.
\nWithin the shallows mentioned above, you navigate either west and south of the row of reefs that lie between Skipbyggjaren and Langskjeret, buoy, west of Erkna, aligning the southern edge of Aksla south of the highest Giske, or between the aforementioned row of reefs and Erkna, or finally north and east of Erkna. Once you have passed Langskjeret in the first case, you can either navigate south of Alnesbreidflua and Leiafallet, or north of Raunen and then into Giskesundet. You are clear southwest of Storegrimen, with Havsteinen well clear south of Giske.
\nIf you wish to navigate between Skipbyggaren and Erkna from Litledjupet, navigate clear west of all the shallows west of Erkna with the whole Alnesraunen aligned with the western point of God\u00f8ya. Once past Erkna, navigate either east of Raunen and Kr\u00e5ka and into Giskesundet as previously described, or eastward south of Synes light.
If you wish to navigate north and east of Erkna from Litledjupet, you are clear north of Blindheimbreidfluda, 12 m, with Uf\u00f8ra (224) (near Hamnsund) aligned with the southern edge of Blindheimsfjellet (Vigra) and clear south of Hovsfluda, 12 m, with the edge of Uf\u00f8ra over the southern point of Barden (reef northwest of Vigra). Continue southwards and navigate south of Synes light and through Staursundet into the inner channel. Be aware of the bridge between Giske and Valder\u00f8ya with a clearance height of 17 m! Instead of navigating south of Synes, you can continue southwards in the middle of the waterway between H\u00e5flesa and Giskerevet.
Inn Giskesundet holder man inn Breisunddjupet med S-pynten av Havsteinen til Alnestangen. Ovennevnte med leder S om Dyngeskallen og videre N om Olsfluda. Man er fri N om Vallabåane, med Alnes fyr N om høy este Havsteinen. Man holder godt klar Alnestangen, hvor det er temmelig grunt. I Giskesundet kan det oppstå fallvind fra Godøya ved sterk W- og S-lig vind. Fra Giskesundet styres N eller S om Havsteinen inn i den indre leia. Man kan også holde inn fri N om Stadsgrunnskallen, med S-kanten av Aksla vel N om Furkenholmen og videre S om Leiafallet. Man er fri S om Onglegrynnet, 17 m, med Skanten av Aksla S om høyeste Havsteinen, og fri SW om Fauskane lysbøye, - og lydbøye og Onglegrynnet med SW-pynten av Godøya innpå W-kanten av Sula.
Vil man inn i den indre leia gjennom et av løpene mellom Godøya og Vigra, kan man gå inn Litledjupet. Man er fri NE om Fauskane i medet Storholmen fyr i E-kanten av Goaldet (490) (Lepsøya) og fri W om Storholmen i medet Erkna fyr innpå Valkvæ (NE-pynten av Godøya).
Man er fri N om Grunnskallen med N-kanten av Aksla N om hele høye Erkna og fri S om dem med Erkna fyr mellom Skipbyggjaren og Toskjera.
Innenfor de grunnene som er nevnt ovenfor, går man enten W og S om rekken med skjær som ligger mellom Skipbyggjaren og Langskjeret, båke, W av Erkna, i medet S-kanten av Aksla S om høyeste Giske, eller mellom ovennevnte rekke av skjær og Erkna, eller endelig N og E om Erkna.
Når man i første tilfelle er kommet forbi Langskjeret, kan man enten gå S om Alnesbreidflua og Leiafallet, eller N om Raunen og så inn Giskesundet. Man er fri SW om Storegrimen, med Havsteinen vel fri S om Giske.
Vil man gå mellom Skipsbyggaren og Erkna fra Litledjupet, styres inn klar W om samtlige grunner W for Erkna med hele Alnesraunen innpå W-pynten av Godøya.
Når Erkna er passert, styres enten E om Raunen og Kråka og inn Giskesundet som forklart foran, eller også E-over S om Synes lykt.
Vil man gå inn N og E om Erkna fra Litledjupet, er man fri N om Blindheimbreidfluda, 12 m, med Uføra (224) (ved Hamnsund) i søndre eggen av Blindheimsfjellet (Vigra) og fri S om Hovsfluda, 12 m, med Skanten av Uføra over S-pynten av Barden (skjær NW av Vigra). Videre S-over og inn S om Synes lykt og gjennom Staursundet og inn i den indre leia. Vær oppmerksom på bru mellom Giske og Valderøya med friseilingshøyde 17 m!
I stedet for å gå inn S om Synes, kan man fortsette S-over midt i farvannet mellom Håflesa og Giskerevet.
