Omsundet cuts between Nordlandet and Frei. When navigating through the strait, stay close to Nordlandet , where the waters are clear except for three rather shallow shoals close to shore.

A bridge crosses the strait, with a minimum vertical clearance of 18 meters over a width of 30 meters. A new bridge has been built just west of the old one, also with a clearance of 18 meters. It is possible to pass both north and south of the Omsbrørne islets.

Omsundet skjærer seg inn mellom Nordlandet og Frei. Ved seilas gjennom sundet holdes nærmest Nordlandet, hvor det er rent når unntas 3 ganske grunne båer kloss under land.

Bru over sundet, minste fri høyde 18m i en bredde av 30 m. Ny bru er bygd like W for den gamle, høyde 18 m. Man kan gå både N og S for Omsbrørne.
