The former fishing village of Kya has been abandoned. Inside the breakwater, there is a small boat harbor, but southerly winds can cause considerable surge. At the innermost part of the harbor, there is a 5-meter unfendered concrete quay. Several mooring poles are available.

Vessels approaching from the north of Kya should keep north of Vågsværet to enter Sulfjorden, but it is also possible to head southward through the so-called Kovan , just east of Kya.
